Revision of ISO 3297 – International Standard Serial Number voted by members of ISO TC46 /SC9

The Committee internal ballot on the revision of ISO 3297 was closed on April 9th, 2017 and the revision was approved by 17 members. WG5, the Working Group that will conduct any revision of ISO 3297, Information and documentation — International standard serial number (ISSN), thus has the permission of this committee to go ahead with a revision of the standard based on the results of the systematic review ballot. The scope of the standard remains unchanged. Ms. Gaëlle Béquet, Director of the ISSN International Centre, will be the project leader. The timeline for the revision is 36 months.

UKSG 40th Annual Conference and Exhibition in Harrogate

The ISSN International Centre will attend the UKSG 40th Annual Conference and Exhibition from 10-12 April 2017, Harrogate (http://www.uksg.org/) . During this event, the ISSN International will also participate to the ICEDIS meeting in April 12th, 2017 (http://www.editeur.org/3/Events/Event-Details/365)

Open Access days at the DNB

The German National Library (DNB) organizes an information day regarding the topic Open Access (OA) for its staff. The OA days take place on March 2nd, 2017 in Leipzig and on March 9th, 2017 in Frankfurt am Main. The in-house training with OA experts -from the Universitätsbibliothek Regensburg, Kooperativer Bibliotheksverbund Berlin-Brandenburg, Copernicus Publications and Springer Nature- will provide (from different prospects) an overview and definition of OA and describe the benefits for science and research. New challenges and possibilities for scientific libraries, publishers and for the DNB in the near future will be highlighted. Kristina Eckl and Christian Schütz (both from ISSN Germany) will hold a presentation about ROAD: the Directory of Open Access scholarly Resources produced by the ISSN Network.
